Answering The Call
Running time: 77 mins
Answering the Call is a contemplative documentary that follows the fragile survival of Ireland’s corncrake, one of the country’s most endangered birds. Set against the windswept beauty of the Atlantic coast, the film traces the efforts of ecologists, farme rs, and volunteers working to restore habitats and revive the bird’s elusive nocturnal call. With atmospheric cinematography and restrained storytelling, Answering the Call is a quiet ode to stewardship, where every gesture carries the weight of hope. The film expands its lens to central Africa, revealing the corncrake’s migratory path and the global interdependence of ecosystems. Answering the Call is not just a portrait of a species in peril, but a meditation on patience, devotion, and the human capacity to mend what we’ve broken.
