Running time: 106 mins
Sandra is a fiercely independent woman in her 50s whose solitary life is disrupted when her neighbour is suddenly left alone with two young children. Despite herself, she becomes part of a makeshift family that neither she nor they had planned. What follows is a study of how bonds form in unexpected ways, rather than the conventional story of romance or parenthood one might expect. Adapted from Alice Ferney’s novel L’Intimité, the quietly meditative L’Attachement examines how people come to rely on one another, and how that reliance can alter even the most carefully constructed independence.
